Theme 2011: The World at HOME
International Friendship Day is a good opportunity to help us learn about and
appreciate other cultures.
Singapore is a migrant society, since the days of our forefathers. Singapore is a small nation and we need to be rooted to Singapore. At the same time, it is important to have a global outlook, to see the opportunities in the world and how Singaporeans can benefit.
Today, many new citizens and non-Singaporeans who choose to make Singapore their home. They bring with them different perspectives, vibrant cultures
and exciting ideas which will enrich our own lives.
Discussion Questions:
1. When you hear the theme The World at HOME, what picture do you think of? Draw a picture/Describe in words that mental picture.
2. What do we know about other countries and cultures?
3. How can we be make visitors from other countries feel welcome?
They come from China, but now call Singapore home. Hear their story.
